Care of emergency patients including hand injuries, eye injuries, shock and alcohol withdrawals

Second Year Clinical Placement 160 hours

Care of cardiac/stroke patients/patients after angiogram, pacemakers and cardiac surgeries
Cardiac, pain, chest pain assessments
DCT/TTS pathway implementation
IV/IM/Subcutaneous medication administration
ECG interpretation
In-services, clinical handover, documentation

St George Hospital, Liver/Colorectal Unit

Second Year Clinical Placement 120 hours

YMCA Yarramundi, Recovery Camp

Second Year Clinical Placement 80 hours

Five-day camp with mental health consumers
Different camp activities to help interact with mental health consumers
Communication develop with mental health consumers such as schizophrenia, anxiety, bipolar disorders
Holistic patient approach to manage anxiety, depression and symptoms such as hallucinations, anxiety and seizures

St George Hospital, Rehabilitation Ward

Second Year Clinical Placement 80 hours

Care of patients requiring rehabilitation usually after orthopedic surgeries
Safe manual handling, occupational health assessments, physiotherapies
Bedside nursing practice such as personal hygiene attending, vital signs, bed-making
A-G nursing assessments, pain management
Wound dressings, patient safety and teamwork development
